In her practice, Rita Castanheira has used video and performance to explore the body’s relationship with technology. She is interested in exploring the virtual broadcasting of the body in relation to ideas of fragility, femininity, identity and invisibility in the digital age. Having previously explored other mediums such as drawing, photography and textile, her current work is the result of her interest in film, DIY and pop culture, often employing characters and text to communicate the subjects of her work.
